Nate Kreinbrink: Good morning, and welcome to this week’s Financial Focus, brought to you each and every Wednesday morning right here on KROS. Well, this is the third Wednesday. It is Andy joining me.
Andy Fergurson: It’s New Year’s Eve.
Nate Kreinbrink: It is kinda New Year’s Eve. It is kinda New Year’s Eve. Hopefully everybody survived the storms last night.
Andy Fergurson: Yeah.
Nate Kreinbrink: There was, I think north of us again and around us, maybe a little worse than maybe what we got at different times, but definitely a nice little one that came through overnight that dumped a little more rain.
Andy Fergurson: Yeah, the rain’s good. We need it, right?
Nate Kreinbrink: It’ll make my grass grow again.
Andy Fergurson: Which then you’ll have something to do. You’ll need to cut it.
Nate Kreinbrink: In between rainstorms, and …
Andy Fergurson: Every single practice that exists under the Earth’s sun.
Nate Kreinbrink: Yes. But it’s fun. Again, I always say I would rather mow than shovel, so I can’t complain. I can’t complain too much.
Andy Fergurson: Yeah.
Nate Kreinbrink: But as you were alluding to, it is kind of a …
Andy Fergurson: It’s happy new year.
Nate Kreinbrink: It is happy new year. Today is April 15th, which means it is the last official day of the tax season.
Andy Fergurson: Yes, yeah. Last unofficial day, really. The last day of tax season ends up being October 15th.
Nate Kreinbrink: Gotcha.
Andy Fergurson: But today’s the last day of the big rush, and so I like to wish people happy new year’s eve.
Nate Kreinbrink: Does it feel weird that it’s here?
Andy Fergurson: It does.
Nate Kreinbrink: Do you feel good that it’s here?
Andy Fergurson: It does.
Nate Kreinbrink: Does it feel like … You look a little chirpy today.
Andy Fergurson: My wife told me this morning it’s her favorite day of the year. But yeah, it feels good. It feels like … Well, I can only imagine this is how it would feel if you were a marathon runner and you come around the bend and you’ve got one block to the finish line.
Nate Kreinbrink: You see that finish line right there, yes.
Andy Fergurson: You’re exhausted, you’re tired, you’ve been working really hard, but …
Nate Kreinbrink: You push.
Andy Fergurson: … you know that you can make that block, and you know that within a little bit of time, it’s going to be past. The struggle is going to be over. So I’ve never experienced that as a marathon runner myself. But this is your reference to it.
Nate Kreinbrink: I like the analogy.
Andy Fergurson: We’ll talk about that.
Nate Kreinbrink: Well, and like you said, with today being the last day to file, but if you do not have them in, you have to file an extension, and that needs to be done today.
Andy Fergurson: Yeah. So today is the last day for an extension, and extensions are very simple…
Nate Kreinbrink: It’s all great stuff. And again, as we get to that point, contact your tax preparer. I know that’s, again, the times you always enjoy sitting down with people and working through those issues and being able to make those changes.
