So with all the buzz around trade policies and the Middle East conflict, this year has been a bit rocky. Do you think things are finally starting to calm down a bit?
David Nelson:
Well, they were, and the last few days has kind of changed some of that, so we’ll have to see. But I will recap two areas that I think are quite important, and they’re in the chart that I have today. And basically what we’re looking at here is the top part is looking at the uncertainty around the trade policy going back to the beginning of the decade. And hopefully what folks can see there is it spiked pretty hard after the tariff announcements. Significant to say the least. The second part, in other words, the bottom of the chart, is basically illustrating the number of ships that are passing through the straits [inaudible 00:01:03], which is also extremely important, and again, was recently impacted as far as the last few days as far as we’re starting to see that scale off a little bit.
It was rising. Now it’s kind of backing off as far as, again, over the last day or two. But this traffic is really, really important for the economy. And if we start seeing things backpedaling again, it’s hard to say as far as the impact that this could have as far as on most people’s, again, net worth statement.
Brandy Auterson-Hurst:
Okay. So what does that mean for people watching at home?
David Nelson:
Well, I think if conditions continue to move this direction, I think people need to be prepared as far as to possibly make some tweaks as far as to their allocations as far as what they’re doing because it could get bumpy. This is probably going to be more extended than what we saw the first go around.
Brandy Auterson-Hurst:
All right, David, thanks for your insight today.
David Nelson:
Thank you.
